Scholarships
Available to Dependent Children of UT Tyler Employees
The
University of Texas at Tyler Scholarship for Dependent Children
of Employees is available for the children of full-time
(100% appointment) UT Tyler employees and children of retirees
who meet the admission criteria and want to attend classes
at UT Tyler on a full-time basis, President Rodney H. Mabry
has announced.
The
scholarship covers all tuition and fees for regularly enrolled
students. The maximum award for each child of a UT Tyler
employee is 12 semesters.

Library
Sponsors Read-In for East Texas Students
Hundreds
of East Texas fourth-graders visited UT Tyler May 16 to participate
in an International Read-In sponsored by Muntz Library and
Touching the Lives of Children through Literacy.
The Read-In
is an annual event celebrating the integration of language
arts and telecommunications in education. Participants at
Muntz Library joined young readers throughout the world to
interview children's authors in a safe, fully moderated online
experience.

'Tea
at the Tee' Features Naomi Judd

Health
and Kinesiology Physical Education Building
- Work in progress includes grade beams, pier caps; lowering
of primary power, telephone and EMCS; and underground rough-in
of soil piping for roof leaders. Projected completion date:
late 2003.
College
of Nursing and Health Sciences Building - Construction
work began during the week of May 13. Projected completion
date: July 2003.
Residence
Hall - Architect being sought for construction of
11,000-square-foot facility on Lake Drive with the capacity
to house 36-40 students. Projected completion date: August
2003.
Longview
University Center parking lot - Request for proposal
responses have been received and are under evaluation for
construction of an 85-space, lighted parking lot. The project
includes landscaping, irrigation and sidewalks.
Longview
University Center monument signs - An agreement has
been executed with an architect. Construction bid speculations
are being prepared. There will be two monument signs, one
on each side of the entrance to the Longview campus. Each
sign will be 6 feet tall and 100 feet in length. Bids are
planned to open this month.
