UT Tyler Announces Addition of Basketball Coaches

Matthew Wallis and Terri Deike have been named men's and women's head basketball coaches, respectively, at The University of Texas at Tyler, Dr. Howard Patterson, athletic director, announced.

"UT Tyler is very fortunate to have these outstanding individuals joining the staff to begin the basketball programs," Patterson said.

Students Can Access Records Online Through CampusConnect

UT Tyler students now have access to a number of information services through CampusConnect, a new Web-enabled interface to the UT Tyler student records system.

CampusConnect is designed to give students easy access to their records at UT Tyler. Students can register for classes, check their schedule, look at their grades, get an unofficial transcript, view their account status, check on financial aid awards and more at: www.uttyler.edu/cc. More>>>

19 New Freshmen Commit to UT Tyler Tennis

Nineteen incoming freshmen have committed to UT Tyler for their education and to play on the tennis team, Ken Olivier, head tennis coach, has announced.

"Recruiting is going well,'' Olivier said. "For fall 2002, we have a total of 15 boys and 13 girls committed to play on the teams. We have 16 spots on each team.'' More>>>

UT Tyler Chapter of Alpha Chi Receives Honor

Texas Alpha Xi, The University of Texas at Tyler chapter of the Alpha Chi Scholastic Honor Society, was named Star Chapter of Alpha Chi during the society's Joint Region I and II Convention in Arlington, faculty sponsor Suzanne Pundt, senior lecturer in biology, announced.

The Star Chapter award is presented to the top chapters in the nation. Only 49 of 327 chapters received the distinction. UT Tyler has received the award for the past three years as well as in 1997 and 1998. The award was created in 1996.

On-campus summer registration, UT Tyler and Longview University Center: Summer I, 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Friday, May 31; Summer II, 10 a.m.-6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 3. Late registration: 9:30 a.m.-6:30 p.m. June 3 and July 8.

Meadows Gallery Features Book Arts Invitational

Book ArtThe exhibit "Covered/(Dis)Covered/(Re)Covered: A Contemporary Book Arts Invitational'' is being presented by the UT Tyler Art Program and The Meadows Gallery this summer.

Curated by Amy Gerhauser, assistant professor of art, and Duane I. Johnson, gallery director, the exhibit opened May 20 and continues through Aug. 2 at the gallery, located in the Cowan Center. More>>>

Construction Updates

Health and Kinesiology Physical Education Building - Work in progress includes grade beams, pier caps; lowering of primary power, telephone and EMCS; and underground rough-in of soil piping for roof leaders. Projected completion date: late 2003.

College of Nursing and Health Sciences Building - Construction work began during the week of May 13. Projected completion date: July 2003.

Residence Hall - Architect being sought for construction of 11,000-square-foot facility on Lake Drive with the capacity to house 36-40 students. Projected completion date: August 2003.

Longview University Center parking lot - Request for proposal responses have been received and are under evaluation for construction of an 85-space, lighted parking lot. The project includes landscaping, irrigation and sidewalks.

Longview University Center monument signs - An agreement has been executed with an architect. Construction specifications are being prepared for request for proposal.
