UT Tyler Grad Receives Wall Street
Journal Award
Shaun Twomey of Tyler has been awarded the Wall
Street Journal 2002 Student Achievement Award.
Twomey graduated magna cum laude in spring 2002
with a bachelor of business administration degree in finance.
The Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award
is presented annually by the UT Tyler College of Business and Technology.
Twomey was chosen, for the second consecutive year, by the business
faculty.
“Shaun E. Twomey is the first ever two-time
recipient of The Wall Street Journal Student Achievement Award at
The University of Texas at Tyler. The award is given to the finance
major with the most outstanding academic record. Shaun graduated
with a perfect 4.0 grade point average. I don't remember ever having
a student that was better prepared for each and every class than
Shaun,” said Oris Odom, business administration chair and
professor of finance.
Recipients are chosen based on academic achievement,
attitude, image, individual growth and potential. Each receives
an individualized paperweight and a year’s subscription to
the Wall Street Journal.
The award was developed by the Educational Service
Bureau of Dow Jones and Company in 1948.
