2002 State Employee Charitable Campaign
Begins
The 2002 State
Employee Charitable Campaign will begin Monday, Sept. 16, and continue
through Friday, Oct. 4.
A result of
1994 legislation establishing a statewide campaign, SECC is a combined
workplace fund-raising campaign that provides state employees with
a convenient and efficient way to make voluntary, tax-deductible
contributions to charities through payroll deduction, cash, check
or money order. Participation in this campaign is strictly voluntary.
“The
SECC provides a convenient way for faculty and staff to give to
a variety of worthy social service and charitable agencies who help
those in need right here in our local community as well as around
the nation and world,’’ said Dr. Jim Ferguson, vice
president for business affairs. “Collectively, the 12 counties
that comprise our SECC area have set a goal of $70,000 this year.
The University of Texas at Tyler is a major part of this effort,
so we are setting our institutional goal at $12,000. I know we can
reach this goal by working together.’’
SECC brochures listing the agencies and pledge forms will be distributed
in the near future. Detailed campaign booklets will be available
through each DSL if additional information is needed.
Completed pledge forms should be returned to the Office of the Vice
President for Business Affairs (ADM 314) no later than Oct. 4.
