‘Swing,’
‘Golden Pond’ Student Tickets Available
UT
Tyler students can a receive complimentary ticket
to upcoming performances of “Swing"
and “On Golden Pond" at the
Cowan Center.
The
all-singing, all-dancing Broadway musical “Swing"
is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 24.
A performance of the 2002-2003 Cowan Center
Broadway Series, “Swing" is sponsored
by Citizen’s First Bank.
The
Broadway production of “On Golden Pond"
will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May
7 (during the week of final exams). “On
Golden Pond" is the final performance of
the Performing Arts Series. It is a Braithwaite
Program jointly presented by UT Tyler and the
East Texas Symphony Orchestra. Media sponsor
is NBC 56.
UT
Tyler students can receive one free ticket to
each event when presenting their current student
ID at the box office. Student tickets may be
limited to 200 per event or until tickets have
sold out. All tickets are based on a first-come/first-served
basis.

Tyler faculty/staff discounts also are available.
Swing’s
mood is upbeat, energetic and positive. The
show is dedicated to the style of the Swing
music of the 40's. The show includes more than
30 dance numbers on any topic you can think
of.
The
current production made its Broadway debut in
1999. Musical numbers include “It Don’t
Mean a Thing,” “I’ll Be Seeing
You,” “Stompin’ at the Savoy”
and “Hit Me With a Hot Note and Watch
Me Bounce.”
On
Golden Pond was adapted as a motion picture
and nominated for nine Academy Awards. It is
a touching, funny and perceptive story of a
family and a couple facing the twilight of their
years together.
Klugman
is best known for his television portrayals
of Oscar Madison in “The Odd Couple”
and the title character in Quincey, M.E.
