Congressman Ralph Hall Receives President’s Award

Dr. Mabry, Rep. Hall

UT Tyler recognized the Honorable Ralph M. Hall (D-Texas) with its President’s Award for his commitment to expanding educational opportunities for all Texans.

A reception and awards presentation was held in Rep. Hall’s honor on April 16 at the Cowan Center.

Family Donates Flagpoles to UT Tyler LUC

Flag raisingThe UT Tyler Longview University Center held a public ceremony on April 11 to dedicate a set of flagpoles donated by the family of Frank Joseph Spaeth.

“This is a joyous occasion in which we not only honor the generosity of a truly great man but also add this element of pride to the our wonderful campus. Mr. Spaeth was present at one of our events last year and addressed our need for a flagpole and his willingness to make it possible. More>>>

An awards ceremony for the 19th annual Young Authors’ Contest is scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday, April 22, at UT Tyler.

Nursing Expands Online Outreach

The UT Tyler College of Nursing and Health Sciences has been awarded a Sid W. Richardson Foundation grant for $175,000 to expand the online educational outreach program.

The grant will allow the College of Nursing and Health Sciences to expand its use of Internet resources to enhance educational programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. More>>>

Scholarship Concert to Feature Noted Musician Marcia Ball

Marcia BallSinger and pianist Marcia Ball will be featured in the UT Tyler Patriot Cox Communications Scholarship Concert on May 15 at the UT Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center.

Tickets for the concert, which begins at 7:30 p.m., are $15 and all seating is general admission, not reserved. More>>>

UT Tyler Cowan Center Kicks Off Circle Membership Campaign

The UT Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center has begun its annual campaign for membership in the Cowan Center Circle.

This season Cowan Center Circle members will enjoy a garden gala featuring country music star Lee Ann Womack, who will open the seventh season, which includes the Performing Arts Series, Distinguished Lecture Series, Broadway Series and Special Events.

University ‘Mother-Friendly Worksite’

UT Tyler recently joined a growing number of state agencies and Texas businesses by becoming designated as a Mother-Friendly Worksite.

Created by the Texas Legislature in 1995 and administered by the Texas Department of Health, the Mother-Friendly Worksite Program recognizes and supports agencies and companies that provide for new mothers returning to work and desiring to continue breastfeeding.
