UT Tyler Cowan
Center Kicks Off Circle Membership Campaign
The
UT Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts
Center has begun its annual campaign for membership
in the Cowan Center Circle.
This season Cowan Center Circle members will
enjoy a garden gala featuring country music
star Lee Ann Womack, who will open the seventh
season, which includes the Performing Arts Series,
Distinguished Lecture Series, Broadway Series
and Special Events.
A
native of Jacksonville, Texas, Womack has earned
many awards including the 2001 Country Music
Association Female Vocalist of the Year. Her
album, I Hope You Dance, sold three
million copies, and the title track was named
Single of the Year by the CMA.
Circle membership levels range from $50 individual
to $5,000 show sponsor. Benefits include acknowledgement
in all show programs and the opportunity to
purchase individual show tickets before they
are available to the public.
Renewal
memberships received by May 9 will be entered
in a drawing for a weekend in Galveston including
hotel accommodations and Saturday evening tickets
to a performance at the 1894 Grand Opera House.
“Your
membership in the Cowan Center Circle truly
makes a difference in the our ability to provide
‘Quality Arts–Right Where You Are.’
You can enjoy state-of-the-art entertainment
without leaving East Texas,” said Susan
Thomae-Morphew, Cowan Center director.
Funding from Circle membership helps make higher
quality events possible and directly supports
educational programming for schools along with
quality upgrades to the Cowan Center. Membership
support enables the Cowan Center to be the cultural
center of East Texas.
Last
season the Circle membership totaled 236, with
16 show sponsors. Support from the Cowan Center
Circle provided for remodeling the Green Room,
which supports casts and crews of touring shows
and doubles as a classroom, a new lobby sound
system, upgrade of the sound and lighting for
the Vaughn Auditorium, educational performances
for public schools and an enclosure for the
box office that will be constructed this season.
New season subscriptions for the 2003-04 Performing
Arts and Distinguished Lecture Series will begin
July 21when the season is announced to the public.
Renewal subscribers can make their purchase
