Available for Hole-in-One Contest
Advance
tickets are on sale now for the 2003 UT Tyler
Cox Communications Patriot Million Dollar Hole-in-One
Contest.
Tickets
are $1 per shot, and patrons will receive 10
complimentary shots for every 25 tickets purchased
through May 9.
The
contest will be held May 10 – 17 in Tyler
on South Broadway behind the Sheraton Hotel
and in Longview at the UT Tyler Longview University
Center, Hwy. 259 North.
Tickets
can be purchased from the UT Tyler Office of
University Advancement or from members of the
UT Tyler Patriot organization.
Amateur
contestants that hit closest to the hole or
make a hole-in-one qualify for the finals and
the chance to win a truck, a boat or $1 million.
The
contest also will feature a special Ladies Event
and a Senior Event for golfers 65 years and
older.
The
qualifying round for the Youth Putting Contest
will be held Saturday, May 10 at the Tyler site.
The
Tyler site will hold a Mother’s Day drawing,
as well as qualifying opportunities, 2 –
7 p.m. on May 11.
Finals
will take place at Hollytree Country Club in
Tyler on Sunday, May 18. Three holes are set
up on the green during the finals, and each
hole corresponds to one of the prizes.
A
2003 Toyota Tundra, valued at $24,000, is provided
by Classic Toyota-Mercedes Benz. A Tahoe 202
deck boat with Mercruiser 190 horsepower engine
and custom trailer, valued at $28,000, is provided
by Dusty Rhoades Marine.
Last
year, a finalist made a hole in one and received
a Bass Tracker Pro Team 175, with custom trailer,
provided by Dusty Rhoades Marine.
Proceeds from the contest benefit scholarship
programs for students at UT Tyler’s campuses
in Tyler, Longview and Palestine.
Chris
Simons serves as chairman of the Tyler site.
The contest is presented in conjunction with
KLTV Channel 7, KTBB AM 600 Radio and Longview
and Kilgore Cable TV.
The
UT Tyler Cox Communications Patriot Million
Dollar Hole-in-One Contest is an official event
of the UT Tyler Patriot Classic, which includes
the Patriot Tennis Classic Pro Am, UT Tyler
Cox Communications Patriot Scholarship Concert
featuring Marcia Ball, Texas “Shootout”
Barbecue and Auction and Patriot Golf Classic.
