Students Make Research Presentations
Four
UT Tyler students spoke on their undergraduate
research projects during an East Texas Section
of the American Chemical Society meeting Nov.
18 at Stephen F. Austin State University.
The
students are Welch Scholars who receive scholarships
and financial support for their research projects
from The Welch Foundation of Houston. The students,
and their research projects, include:
- Sean
Butler, senior, “The Design and Synthesis
of Novel Macromolecular Indicators for Use
in Smart Polymer Coatings.”
- Jason
Distefano, senior, “Classical Studies
of the Rotational Excitation of Atom-Diatom
Collisions.”

Randa Gates, senior, “Computational
Studies of Helium-Metal Hydride Complexes.”

John Brannon Gary, sophomore, “The Design,
Synthesis, and Characterization of Novel f-
and d-Block Coordination Compounds.”
Drs.
Neil Gray, Jason Kautz, and Brian Taylor are
the students’ research advisers.
