LUC Holds First
Poetry Contest
The
UT Tyler Longview University Center held its
first poetry contest recently.
The
contest, which is planned to be an annual event,
took place during National Poetry Month in May.
“Poetry in Your Community” was the
theme for the month.
Two
entries were submitted by LUC students, and
prizes were presented to them. Kristina Ibitayo
was awarded an office organizer for her entry
titled “Change.” Teri Covington
was presented a novel for her entry titled “Service.”
Dorothy
West, library assistant, held the contest, assisted
by Writing Center tutor Rick Phillips.
