Student Named All-American Scholar
Mark Taylor, a graduate student at UT Tyler, has been named a Collegiate
All-American Scholar by the United States Achievement Academy’s
recognition program for exceptional students.
The program recognizes
fewer than 10 percent of all American college students and is based
on the student’s academic performance, interest and aptitude,
leadership qualities and recommendation from a professor or college
official. All-American Scholars must earn at least a 3.3 grade point
average.
Honorees are included
in the Collegiate All-American Scholar Yearbook and are eligible
to apply for scholarships.
Taylor, a resident of
Palestine, is a student in the master of science/nurse practitioner
degree program. Dr. Linda Klotz, dean of the UT Tyler College of
Nursing and Health Sciences, nominated Taylor for the All-American
Scholar award.
“Mark is an excellent
student who manages to balance the demands of work, family and advanced
practice education,’’ Dr. Klotz said. “When he
completes his nurse practitioner degree, we anticipate that he will
be a good addition to quality health care teams providing care for
the region.’’
Taylor is a member of
the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society in Nursing, Iota
Nu Chapter, and the Kappa Delta Pi International Honor Society in
Education, Rho Rho Chapter. He graduated cum laude from UT Tyler
with a bachelor of science in nursing degree in 1998.
