Speechcraft Seminar

Sharon Counts, president of Tyler Morning Toastmasters, speaks during the first Speechcraft Seminar at UT Tyler March 18. Held from noon to 1 p.m. each Tuesday through April 22 in UC 118, the free seminars offer members of the campus community an opportunity to develop speaking and leadership skills. Those who attend at least four of the seminars will earn a Speechcraft certificate of completion. The seminars are sponsored by UT Tyler and Tyler Morning Toastmasters. Lunch is provided. Patriot Hole-in-One Contest May 10-17

The UT Tyler Cox Communications Patriot Million Dollar Hole-in-One Contest will be held May 10–17 at contest sites in Tyler and Longview.

The contests offer amateur golfers age 18 and older the opportunity to compete, at $1 per shot, in preliminary daily rounds. More>>>

Dr. Mabry has proclaimed the week of March 24-28 as President's Appreciation Week at UT Tyler.

Activities will be held each afternoon and include a universitywide luncheon on Friday.
Members of the university community and their families are invited to attend the “Mardi Gras’’ luncheon, which will begin at 11:30 a.m. on the lakeside terrace behind the University Center. More>>>

Cheerleader Tryouts April 11-12

The UT Tyler athletic program will conduct cheerleader tryouts April 11-12 in the Thomas K. Gorman High School gymnasium, 1405 East Southeast Loop 323 in Tyler.

Tryouts are open to current UT Tyler students and incoming undergraduate students including high school seniors and junior college or college transfers. More>>>

Principal Institute Announces Partnership With TISD

The Principal Institute at The University of Texas at Tyler has formed a partnership initiative with the Tyler Independent School District.

TISD has committed for the next four years to serve as co-sponsor of the institute, which provides practicing principals in East Texas with the leadership skills and knowledge to transform their schools into centers of excellence that work together in the joint enterprise of improving education for all students. Conway, Rich to Present Duo Piano Recital

Vicki Conway and Mary RichVicki Conway and Mary Rich will perform works by Saint-Saens, Poulenc and Brubeck in a duo piano recital at 7:30 p.m. Monday, March 31, in the Braithwaite Recital Hall.

The program will include: Variations on a Theme by Beethoven, Op. 35 by Camille Saint-Saens; L'embarquement pour Cythere, Elegie and Capriccio by Francis Poulenc; and selections from Points on Jazz: Prelude, Scherzo, Chorale, Blues and Rag by Dave Brubeck. More>>>

Superintendent Institute Announces Brisk Enrollment

Registration for the inaugural event of the Superintendent Institute at UT Tyler has been overwhelming, Dr. Russell D. Marshall, coordinator, announced.

“In the first three weeks of promotion of the 2003 Superintendent Institute we registered 13 school districts, a charter school and staff members from two regional service centers,’’ said Marshall. More>>>
