Celebration of
Excellence Ceremony Tuesday
Outstanding
academic achievements among Texas’ ninth-
through and 12th-graders will be the focus of
more than 25 ceremonies at colleges and universities,
including UT Tyler, this week.
The
ninth annual Texas Celebrations of Educational
Excellence, hosted by members of the State Board
of Education and 24 colleges and universities
around the state, will honor the state’s
top scholars.
A
ceremony for District IX will be held at 10
a.m. Tuesday, April 1, in UT Tyler’s Muntz
Library Room 401.
The
colleges and universities will host about 5,995
students in ceremonies on their campuses. Another
7,555 students will be honored later in local
awards ceremonies.
The
Celebrations events were established by the
board to recognize and honor outstanding academic
accomplishments by high school students.

honored students are often Academic Decathlon
winners, National Merit Scholars and top-ranking
