Sha Shead (right) is presented the Freshman Spotlight Award by Terri Deike, women’s basketball coach, on Nov. 13. Deike nominated Shead for her enthusiasm and attitude. “She hails from LaPoynor High School, is on the women's basketball team and is a wonderful friend to all on the team,’’ Deike said. Shead has volunteered to serve as women's basketball representative on the Student Athlete Advisory Committee, a mandatory NCAA committee. The Office of Student Development honors a freshman weekly for excelling in class, student activities, leadership, attitude or in other aspects of college life. Faculty and staff may nominate a freshman by sending an e-mail to freshmanspotlight@uttyler.edu.
