UT Tyler Receives $100,000 Gift for Endowed Professorship

Lecil and Barbara Chandler of Tyler have given a gift of $100,000 to UT Tyler to establish the Lecil and Barbara Chandler Endowed Professorship in Computer Science, President Rodney H. Mabry announced.

The endowment honors UT Tyler associate professor of computer science, Dr. Steve Rainwater, who is a neighbor and friend of the Chandlers. Funds distributed from this endowment will be used to benefit faculty responsibilities in teaching, service and scholarship. More>>>

Basketball Season Begins

Brooke Busby with ballUT Tyler’s Brooke Busby (23) finds the passing lanes blocked as she is surrounded by LSU-Shreveport in the Patriots’ first basketball game at the Herrington Patriot Center Saturday. The men’s team also played its first game of the season against LSU-Shreveport. The Patriot women return to play Tuesday when they play host to the University of Dallas. The men return to action Nov. 29 when they play at Sul Ross State. Their next home game is Dec. 4 against Hardin-Simmons.

Patriot Singers to Present Holiday Concert

The music program will present the Patriot Singers in concert at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at the UT Tyler Longview University Center.

The Patriot Singers, UT Tyler’s newest select vocal ensemble, will perform music of the holiday season. The concert will be open to the public. Admission will be free. More>>>

UT Tyler Theatre to Offer Travel/Study Trip to Europe

Kilkenney CastleThe UT Tyler theatre program will offer a travel/study course on Irish and English plays during the 2004 Summer I term.

The six credit-hour course, open to graduates and undergraduates, will include a tour of Ireland, Wales and England June 8-23. Four classes will be held on campus prior to the tour. The course will conclude in July with two classes on campus. More>>>
