Awareness Week Begins Oct. 27
A
fall festival and magic show, Monster Mash Costume
Party and poster contest are among activities
planned at UT Tyler for Drug and Alcohol Awareness
Week, Oct. 27-31.
Entries
are being accepted through Thursday, Oct. 23,
in UC 282 for the poster contest sponsored by
the DREAM Team. Posters must be standard size
and related to alcohol or drug abuse prevention.
DREAM Team officers will vote on the top five
posters, and the student body will vote on Oct.
27 and 28.
First-place
winner will receive a $100 gift certificate
from the UT Tyler bookstore, and second place
winner will receive a $50 gift certificate.
The winners will be announced at the Monster
Mash Costume Party on Oct. 29.

scheduled for Drug and Alcohol Awareness Week
include:
Monday,
Oct. 27

Fall festival with CJ Jones and Brian Underwood
(magician and hypnotist act, sponsored by
Student Activities, 7 p.m. in the UC Open
area.
- Students
may vote on the poster contest throughout
the day.
- Share
Your Story: Students, faculty and staff may
share their stories at displays around campus
by writing about how alcohol and/or other
drugs have affected them or someone they know.
Tuesday,
Oct. 28
- Last
day to vote on poster contest.

Wednesday,
Oct. 29

Alcohol awareness seminar and free lunch,
noon-1 p.m., UC 118. SCCADA representatives
will speak.
- Monster
Mash Costume Party, 7-9 p.m. at the University
Pines clubhouse. Games, prizes, mocktails.
- Poster
contest winners will be announced at 8 p.m.
at the party.

Thursday,
Oct. 30

Thrill Cinemation Theater, noon-6 p.m. at
the Patriot Center parking lot. Sponsored
by Student Activities.

Oct. 31
- Free, confidential
alcohol screenings, 10 a.m.-noon and 2-4 p.m. in the Student Counseling
Center (UC282). For students, faculty and staff who may be concerned
about themselves or someone they care about. Walk-ins welcome.
