REPRESENTING
UT TYLER STAFF
USAC is an advisory body through which staff
members may make recommendations to the president
and university leaders relative to interests,
concerns and issues affective the life and future
of the university.
The
advisory council identifies issues of concern,
recommends solutions to problems and otherwise
suggests new ways to improve service. Staff
members are encouraged to submit their ideas
and concerns to their USAC representative.
USAC
also promotes a caring atmosphere for students,
fostering pride in service and arranging for
staff professional development programs. The
council is responsible for the Star Employee
Awards program and for organizing the annual
President’s Appreciation Week each spring.
In
addition, USAC elects a member each year to
serve on the UT System Employee Advisory Council,
a representative advisory group that works with
and on behalf of the UT System.
STAR
EMPLOYEE AWARD
The Star Employee Award is designed to recognize
staff members whose service to students, faculty
and the university community goes beyond the
ordinary. Recipients receive one day of administrative
leave during the month (with supervisor approval)
as well as a framed certificate. There is also
a traveling trophy, which is presented to the
star to display on their desk for one month.
Any
UT Tyler employee – other than faculty,
directors, and administrators – is eligible
to be nominated for the Star Award. Anyone involved
with UT Tyler is eligible to make a nomination.
Nominations
can be e-mailed to utstar@mail.uttyl.edu
(in Lotus Notes on campus just type UT Star)
or sent in the form of a note or letter through
campus mail, addressed to UT Star.
A
rotating committee formed from USAC reviews
all nominations received. The committee examines
the contents of nominations looking for evidence
of a great attitude and excellent service to
students, faculty and others across campus.
More
information about the Star Award is available
at: www.uttyler.edu/usac.
