UT
Tyler Soccer Opens Second Season
The
UT Tyler men’s soccer team opened its season in dramatic
fashion on Friday, downing NCAA Division III rival UT Dallas
3-2 in overtime before 350 fans at the UT Tyler Soccer Field.
Forward
Daniel Browning scored the game-winning goal just over two
minutes into the overtime period on an assist by Richard White.
Browning and White led the Patriots offensively as both scored
in the first period to give UT Tyler a 2-0 lead at the half.
Jamie Parson assisted on Browning’s first goal.

State
Employee Charitable Campaign Begins Sept. 15
The
2002 State Employee Charitable Campaign will begin Monday,
Sept. 15, and continue through Oct. 13.
SECC
is a combined workplace fund-raising campaign that provides
state employees a convenient and efficient way to make voluntary,
tax-deductible contributions to charities through payroll
deduction, cash or check or money order. Participation in
the campaign is voluntary.

Pedestrians
Should Avoid Parking Lot Construction Area
As
a safety measure, the parking lot construction area by the
Cowan Center is closed to pedestrians, Barbara O’Keeffe,
director of environmental health and safety, has announced.
Students,
faculty and staff should avoid using the construction area
as a short cut to other parts of the campus, O’Keeffe

Dr.
Klotz Appointed to System-Wide Commission on Tuition
AUSTIN
– Chancellor Mark G. Yudof has announced the appointment
of members to a University of Texas System Commission on Tuition
whose primary responsibility will be to review campus plans
for setting tuition policies and to advise the chancellor
on recommendations that he will make to the Board of Regents.
Dr.
Linda Klotz, dean of the UT Tyler College of Nursing and Health
Sciences, is among the 18 members appointed to the commission,
which includes students and administrators from across the

Volleyball Plays First-Ever Game in Abilene
UT Tyler Head Coach Rachel Short and her 12-member volleyball
squad made local sports history this weekend as they played
their first-ever volleyball games. The Patriots (2-1) participated
in the Big Country Classic in Abilene hosted by McMurry and
Hardin-Simmons Universities.
