UT
Tyler Soccer Opens Second Season
The
UT Tyler men’s soccer team opened its season in dramatic fashion
on Friday, downing NCAA Division III rival UT Dallas 3-2 in overtime
before 350 fans at the UT Tyler Soccer Field.
Forward Daniel
Browning scored the game-winning goal just over two minutes into
the overtime period on an assist by Richard White. Browning and
White led the Patriots offensively as both scored in the first period
to give UT Tyler a 2-0 lead at the half. Jamie Parson assisted on
Browning’s first goal.

UT Dallas’s
Greg Kachikis and Ali Morshedi scored in the second period to force
the game into overtime.
In women’s
action, the Patriots lost their season opener to UT Dallas, 2-0.
UT Dallas struck
early, scoring on a Jessica Beachy goal, assisted by Crystal Sanders,
in the 13th minute. Tiffany Knobloch also scored for the Comets.

The 2003 season
is the second for soccer at UT Tyler. Kenny Jones and Jodi Lovell
lead the men’s and women’s teams respectively; both
are in their second year as Patriot head coaches.
Next up, both
UT Tyler squads will travel to Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas
on Sept. 7.
