Broadway Series Season Tickets Available

Fame billboardSeason tickets go on sale Tuesday, Sept. 2 for the 2003-04 Broadway Series at The University of Texas at Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center, Susan Thomae-Morphew, director of the Cowan Center, announced.

“The series offers another year of some of Broadway’s best productions, and we are very grateful to our sponsors who have helped make this season possible. Our Broadway patrons are very loyal and nearly every single Broadway show that we present sells out,” Thomae-Morphew said.

The season includes the hit musical The Music Man Nov. 18, sponsored by Southside Bank; Kiss Me Kate Feb. 14, sponsored by Mary and Bob Irwin; and Fame – The Musical April 12, sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. A.W. “Dub” Riter Jr. KLTV is the series media sponsor.

Season ticket prices are $124 and $102 depending on choice of seating. Tickets are available at the UT Tyler Cowan Center box office. Box office hours are 10 am – 4 pm Monday through Friday.

“Subscribing to the series saves money while offering priority seating,” Thomae-Morphew added.

Music Man billboardPatrons also can purchase the Special Event production of “Cirque Eloize Nomade” as a part of their Broadway season purchase. This performance is sponsored by NBC 56.

Special event tickets are $36, $26 and $16 depending on choice of seating. All proceeds from this production will fund scholarships for the UT Tyler School of Visual and Performing Arts.

“The Music Man” depicts the arrival of champion salesman Harold Hill in River City, Iowa and his exploits as he convinces the townspeople that they need a marching band complete with first-class instruments and gold-trimmed uniforms.

This musical features such favorites as “Lida Rose,” “76 Trombones” and “Til There Was You.”

Kiss Me Kate billboardWith music and lyrics by renowned composer Cole Porter, Kiss Me, Kate takes inspiration from Shakespeare’s brilliant comedy The Taming of the Shrew.

“This is a wonderful musical that is full of humor. The audience will enjoy the mix of romance, fun and an incredible score,” said Thomae-Morphew.

New York City’s legendary High School for the Performing Arts is the center of Fame – The Musical, which showcases a time long before reality television catapulted young talents into stardom. This musical builds on the Academy Award-winning movie and successful TV series.

Cirque Eloize Nomade offers a festive celebration of song and dance and provides audiences with an insider’s look into the “cirque” world of enchantment, humor and wonder.
