Employee Charitable Campaign Begins Sept. 15
The 2002 State Employee Charitable Campaign will begin Monday, Sept.
15, and continue through Oct. 13.
SECC is a combined workplace fund-raising campaign
that provides state employees a convenient and efficient way to
make voluntary, tax-deductible contributions to charities through
payroll deduction, cash or check or money order. Participation in
the campaign is voluntary.
“The SECC provides a convenient way for members of the campus
community to give to a variety of very worthy social service and
charitable agencies who help those in need right here in Smith County
as well as around the State of Texas, nation and world,’’
said Dr. Jim Ferguson, vice president for business affairs.
“Collectively, the 25 counties that comprise
our SECC area have set a goal of $95,000 this year. The University
of Texas at Tyler is a major part of this effort, so we are setting
our institutional goal at $14,000 (we raised over $13,300 last year).
I know we can reach this goal by working together,’’
Ferguson said, adding that UT Tyler raised more than $13,300 last
year.
Departmental Safety Liaisons (DSLs) will distribute
SECC brochures and pledge forms in the near future. Detailed campaign
booklets will be available through each DSL. All completed pledge
forms should be returned to ADM 314 no later than Oct. 3.
