In the Spotlight

Reginald Killingley, director of educator preparation programs, student teaching and field experiences, was invited to be a judge at the Texas Foreign Languages Symposium sponsored by the North East Texas Organization of Language Educators.

The symposium, which included participants from school districts throughout Northeast Texas, was held at the Texas A&M University-Commerce campus on April 8. Killingley, who has taught Spanish at the college level, is also certified as a bilingual elementary teacher, high-school Spanish teacher and federal court interpreter.

UT Tyler graduate Keith Peterson, who was a speech communication major and member of the debate team, has been selected to serve as speechwriter for Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Peterson, currently the debate coach at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, will begin his duties as speechwriter this summer.
