Art Department Visits
Fort Worth Museums
Twenty-eight
art students and faculty traveled to Fort Worth March 19 to visit
the Museum of Modern Art and the Kimbell Museum of Art.
The Modern Art
Museum provides a captivating experience both in terms of its new
structure and the world class images on display. At the Kimbell,
students and faculty were treated to the delights of a touring exhibition
of J. M. W. Turner, an English master of the last century.
The Kimbell
will be the only U.S. stop for this collection of Turner's masterful
works from his Venetian period. The Kimbell also featured the works
of François Boucher, beginning with pre-sketches and ending
with his actual paintings of myths and legends.
Dr. Jill Blondin,
assistant professor of art history, organized the trip, which is
offered each semester. The trips are advertised for art students,
but others are welcome. Reservations are taken on a first come first
served basis.
The next trip
is scheduled for the fall semester.
