Mary and Bob Irwin Honored as Patriots of the Year

UT Tyler has named Mary and Bob Irwin the 2004 Patriots of the Year, President Rodney H. Mabry has announced.

President Mabry recognized the Irwins Thursday during UT Tyler’s annual President’s Dinner attended by almost 300 friends of the university.

The Patriot of the Year Award is given to a couple or an individual who has made enduring contributions to the advancement of the university and the community. More>>>

Hepler Named HPC Fitness Manager

Robert Hepler has been named fitness center manager for UT Tyler’s Louise Herrington Patriot Center, announced UT Tyler dean of student affairs Dr. Howard Patterson.

Hepler begins his duties at the university on April 19. More>>>

Engineering Students Recognized for Passing Exam

Engineering Students
UT Tyler seniors and recent graduates who passed the 2003 National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying Fundamentals of Engineering Exam were honored April 15.

The East Texas Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers recognized the students and graduates during the chapter’s monthly meeting and luncheon at the university. More>>>

Ahn Trio to Perform May 6 at Cowan Center

The Ahn Trio will bring contemporary classical works to the Cowan Center at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 6.

The event is part of the Braithwaite Music Series, sponsored by the late Mrs. David G. Braithwaite and presented jointly by the Cowan Center and East Texas Symphony Orchestra. More>>

Patriot Village Apartments-under construction

Patriot Village student apartment complex– Construction is in progress to create 200 beds in four buildings and a meeting/game/office entrance building. Completion expected by fall 2004.

Baseball/softballs fields – The first phase is expected to go out to bid in April to provide two fields, ...Details>>>

Dirt berms, landscaping and sidewalks along Campus Drive – Project has begun.

Dormitory – An architect has been selected to design a 200-bed facility. Completion expected by fall 2005.

Engineering, Science and Technology Building – Bids have been opened and a contractor is expected to be selected this month. Details>>>

Performance soccer field – Project under way to provide a venue for men’s and women’s NCAA soccer games and more. Details>>>

Longview University Center monument signs – Project completed.

Other projects: Two architects have been selected and design is underway for two new parking lots and HPE building renovations. Details>>>
