Competitive
games, virtual reality rides and a barbecue luncheon with
live entertainment are among the many activities planned for
the 2004 Patriot Days, April 12-16.
A
DJ will play music in the University Center during the lunch
hour every day except on Friday. T-Shirts will be available

Receives Grant to Conduct Institute
The
Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board has awarded UT Tyler
a Teacher Quality Grant to conduct an Institute for Scientific
Literacy, Terri R. Hebert, teacher-in-residence in the Teaching
Excellence in Math and Science program, announced.
The
grant, including supplemental funding from TEMS, totals $99,961.

Student
Apartments to be Named ‘Patriot Village’
UT Tyler’s
new 200-bed student apartment complex will be named Patriot
Village, as the result of a contest that drew 100 entries
from the student body.
The
winners of the naming contest were Laura L. Hickerson, who
was the first to submit the name Patriot Village, and Michael
D. Brewer, who was the first to submit the second of the top
two choices -- Patriot Crossing.

to Present Family Concert
The
East Texas Symphony Orchestra will present a Family Spring
Concert at 7 p.m. Friday, April 16, at the Cowan Center.

in Dr. Paul Streufert’s World Literature Through Renaissance
class (ENGL 2362) perform a scene from “Oedipus at Colonus’’
on campus recently. The class put on brief scenes from plays

Soccer Field – Construction has begun.
Completion expected in May.
Longview
University Center monument signs – Project
underway. Anticipated completion date is March 30.
Other
Projects: Request for qualifications went out
for the design of two more parking lots and a small renovation
project in PHE. Evaluations are being completed for selection
