Film Series Presents ‘Remains of the Day’
The Friends of the Arts and the UT Tyler theatre department will present “Remains of the Day’’ Dec. 15, as part of the Third Wednesday Film Series.
The film starring Anthony Hopkins, Emma Thompson and Christopher Reeve, will be shown at 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. in the Cowan Center lecture hall, Room 1009. Tickets are $4. UT Tyler, Tyler Junior College and Texas College students will be admitted free with valid ID. More>>>

Van Chancellor, coach of the WNBA Houston Comets, speaks to members of the UT Tyler women’s basketball team Dec. 1 on campus. Commencement to Recognize 351 Candidates
UT Tyler will recognize 351 degree candidates during fall commencement ceremonies Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Cowan Center.
The ceremony for candidates in the Colleges of Business and Technology, Engineering and Computer Science and Nursing and Health Sciences will begin at 10 a.m. The ceremony for candidates in the Colleges of Arts and Sciences and Education and Psychology will begin at 1:30 p.m. More>>>

Programs Offered for the Study of Early Historical Periods
The College of Arts and Sciences has established two interdisciplinary minors and a scholarship program for the study of early historical periods, Dr. Donna Dickerson, dean, announced.
Students may select a minor in classical studies or in medieval and renaissance studies to satisfy bachelor’s degree requirements in any major that requires a minor. Each minor requires a total of 18 semester hours, 12 of which must be upper division. Both minors would allow students to select from appropriate courses in a wide variety of disciplines. More>>>

Scholastic Book Fair Benefits Learning Development Center
The Department of Early Childhood, Reading and Special Education sponsored a Scholastic Book Fair to benefit the UT Tyler Learning Development Center Dec. 1-2 in the University Center.
The book fair provides materials for students in education to use in their field experiences and for use in the Learning Development Center’s assessment, reading and strategies clinics. More>>>
Alpha Chi Honor Society Inducts 95 Students
Ninety-five students were inducted into UT Tyler’s Alpha Xi chapter of the Alpha Chi Scholastic Honor Society recently.
The ceremony included the presentation of outstanding faculty awards to: Paul Streufert, College of Arts and Sciences; Sheldon Dunham, College of Business and Technology; Bernadine Hansen, College of Education and Psychology; Stephen Rainwater, College of Engineering and Computer Science; and Melinda Hermanns, College of Nursing and Health Science. Health Clinic to Remain Open During Holidays
The University of Texas Health Clinic will remain open during the holidays to serve UT Tyler students, faculty and staff.
Located south of the Engineering Building, the clinic is open 8 a.m.to noon Monday, Wednesday and Friday and 1 to 5 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday. More>>>
