Commencement to Recognize 351 Candidates
UT Tyler will recognize 351 degree candidates during fall commencement ceremonies Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Cowan Center.
The ceremony for candidates in the Colleges of Business and Technology, Engineering and Computer Science and Nursing and Health Sciences will begin at 10 a.m. The ceremony for candidates in the Colleges of Arts and Sciences and Education and Psychology will begin at 1:30 p.m.
James I. Perkins, president and chairman of Citizens 1 st Bank and a member of the UT Tyler Foundation and Development Board, will deliver the commencement address. President Rodney Mabry will certify the degree candidates.
Presentation of degree candidates will be by Dr. Richard L. Osburn, provost and vice president for academic affairs; and by the deans of each of the university’s colleges: Dr. Donna L. Dickerson, Arts and Sciences; Dr. Jim Tarter, Business and Technology; Dr. William Geiger, Education and Psychology; Dr. Troy F. Henson, Engineering and Computer Science; and Dr. Linda K. Klotz, Nursing and Health Sciences.
Dr. Robert H. Cranford, senior faculty members, will serve as macebearer. Drs. Thomas Fernandez and Mark Lewis will serve as readers.
Music will be provided by the UT Tyler wind ensemble, directed by Dr. Jeff Emge, music program chair and associate professor.
Dr. David Dykes, pastor of Green Acres Church, will give the invocation and benediction. Alan J. Thomas will give the alumni association presentation.
