Scholastic Book Fair Benefits Learning Development Center

The Department of Early Childhood, Reading and Special Education sponsored a Scholastic Book Fair to benefit the UT Tyler Learning Development Center Dec. 1-2 in the University Center.

The book fair provides materials for students in education to use in their field experiences and for use in the Learning Development Center’s assessment, reading and strategies clinics. The center offers cognitive ability and academic achievement testing for children from age 2 and adults, and reading and strategies clinics for children ages 4-17.

Students enrolled in the UT Tyler College of Education and Psychology set up and worked at the book fair. Asked why the book fair is important to her, Leigh Ann Case, a junior majoring in early childhood education, said: “The books purchased during this fair directly contribute to my education resources to help the kids I’ll be teaching in the future.”
