Cirque
Eloize Nomade Performance Feb. 26
Canadian
circus troupe Cirque Éloize will bring its lastest
creation, Nomade, to The University of Texas at Tyler R. Don
Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center on Feb. 26, Susan Thomae-Morphew,
Cowan Center director, announced.

new production is very theatrical, very artistic, but not
very Disney. This show has a gypsy European flavor and is
similar to other great cirques touring the country.

Debate
Team Places First at State Tournament
UT
Tyler's Amy Arellano and Noah Conklin placed first at the
Texas Intercollegiate Forensic Association Spring Tournament
held Feb. 6-7 in Hurst.
Three other teams from UT Tyler placed in debate competition
at the tournament, which was attended by 20 universities and
colleges from across the state, said Dr. Jeffrey Hobbs, UT
Tyler debate coach and associate professor of speech communications.

Series Presents ‘Highway Hangouts’
“Highway
Hangouts,’’ based on the series of books by author
and photographer John Margolies, will be shown Feb. 18 as
part of UT Tyler’s Third Wednesday Film Series.
The
film will be featured at 3:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. in FAC 1009.

Encouraged to Return National Survey
A
random sample of UT Tyler freshmen and seniors recently received
The College Student Report 2004 National Survey of Student
Engagement. To encourage students to complete and return the
surveys, Dr. Howard Patterson, dean of students, announced
that several prizes will be given away to randomly selected
students who complete and return the survey by the May 8,

Tyler Alumna Named Teacher of the Year
Former
UT Tyler student Ellen Herbert has been named the 2004 Secondary
Teacher of the Year. She will represent Texas in the National
Teacher of the Year selection.
“I
had wonderful teachers at UT Tyler, and I’m still in
contact with them today. I still call them for advice,”

Research Receives National Recognition
Research
in nanotechnology conducted by Dr. Robert Greendyke, assistant
professor of mechanical engineering at The University of Texas
at Tyler, has received national recognition.
For
the third time in as many years, Dr. Greendyke’s research
was recognized in the “Year in Review’’
edition of American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics’
Aerospace America Magazine. The edition highlights cutting-edge
aerospace engineering research work in the United States for

the design of two more parking lots and a small renovation
project in PHE. Evaluations are being completed for selection
