Jazz Flautist Althea René to Perform Tuesday

Jazz flautist Althea René will be in concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the Cowan Center.

The concert, sponsored by the UT Tyler Office of Student Activities, also will feature Tyler’s own George Faber & Friends.

General admission will be $5 for adults and $3 for non-UT Tyler students. Admission will be $1 for band students with current identification. UT Tyler students, faculty and staff will be admitted free with current ID. More>>>

Feb. 16 Deadline for Excellence in Teaching Nominations

Nominations are invited from members of the student body and the university faculty for 2004 excellence in teaching awards.

Each year, UT Tyler recognizes two full-time faculty members for their excellence in teaching. One receives the Chancellor's Council Teaching Award and the other is nominated for an award from the Minnie Stevens Piper Foundation. More>>>

Krier to Serve as Board of Regents Vice Chairman

Guest speaker John Turchon will present “Who Stole My Cheese?” during this year’s UT Tyler staff development workshop Feb. 19-20.

Regents Authorize Planning for Los Alamos Bid

BROWNSVILLE – The Board of Regents of the University of Texas System on Feb. 4 authorized planning for a potential bid to operate the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico.

The regents authorized Chancellor Mark G. Yudof to initiate planning for a potential bid, including seeking industrial partners, using consultants, and contracting for services and supplies. More>>>

Apartments – Construction has begun to create 200 beds in four buildings. Details>>>

Baseball/Softballs Fields – An architect has been selected, and the design is underway.

Dormitory – An architect has been selected to design the building. Details>>>

Engineering, Science and Technology Building – Project in design phase.

Premier Soccer Field – Construction has begun. Completion expected in May.

Longview University Center monument signs – Project underway. Anticipated completion date is March 30.

Other Projects: Request for qualifications out now for the design of two more parking lots and a small renovation project in PHE. The architect's qualifications are due on Jan. 27.
