Council Formed for Palestine Campus
|
Thirteen
Palestine area community leaders have been named to
the development council for The University of Texas
at Tyler Palestine Campus, announced UT Tyler President
Rodney H. Mabry.
The
development council is responsible for assisting in
the fundraising and promotional efforts of the campus.

Dance
Theatre of Harlem to Perform Tuesday
The
renowned Dance Theatre of Harlem will be featured Tuesday,
Jan. 13, at Cowan Center, announced Susan Thomae-Morphew,
Cowan Center director.
The
dance company will perform at 8 p.m. in the Vaughn Auditorium.
The performance is sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Z. Ornelas.

Oliver
North Lecture, Student Seminar Jan. 22
The
UT Tyler Distinguished Lecture Series will present Col. Oliver
North, combat-decorated Marine, best-selling author and former
U.S. counter-terrorism coordinator, at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan.
22, at the Cowan Center.
North
also will be featured at a student seminar for university
students from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. in the Braithwaite Recital
Hall. The seminar will include a question-and-answer session.

to Feature Black Art Exhibit
Black
Art – Ancestral Legacy will be a featured exhibit at
The University of Texas at Tyler Robert R. Muntz Library Jan.
12 – 26, 2004, announced Jeanne Pyle, Muntz Library
director.
“Through
a grant supplied by the UT Tyler Friends of the Arts, we are
proud to house this exhibit which is organized by the Texas
Council for the Humanities Resource Center. The community

Regents
Order Review of UTIMCO
(Austin
American-Statesman)
University of Texas System regents are targeting the management
and structure of the system's outside investment company,
ordering a second review of its operations.
Some
regents are raising concerns about how much the University
of Texas Investment Management Co. spends on compensation
and outside fees. Chairman Charles Miller said the regents'
oversight of the investment company, known as UTIMCO, is inadequate.

select a university to attend. She made her decision back
in elementary school.

visited The University of Texas at Tyler on a field trip when
I was in the third grade and, ever since then, I was sure
I wanted to would go to school there,’’ she said.

Reed of Tyler has been named the first head softball coach
at The University of Texas at Tyler.

during a press conference Friday at the Herrington Patriot

singer, songwriter, pianist and guitarist Jill Cohn will perform
at UT Tyler on Tuesday, Jan. 20.

concert will be from 6 to 8 p.m. in the University Center.

Childcare Available to Students
Subsidized
childcare is available to qualifying students at UT Tyler,
as part of a collaboration between UT Tyler and the East Texas
Workforce Board.
The
university’s early childhood program was certified as
qualifying for matching funds for Child Development Block

Trauma
Team Visit Reinforces Lecture Material

The
trauma team from Mother Frances Trauma Services recently
visited the UT Tyler Palestine Campus to reinforce lecture
material on trauma and neuro-trauma for third-semester
nursing students (NURS 4632).
Most
of the team arrived via the Flight For Life Emergency
Helicopter, which landed in the rear parking lot at
