Subsidized
Childcare Available to Students
Subsidized childcare is available to
qualifying students at UT Tyler, as part of a collaboration between
UT Tyler and the East Texas Workforce Board.
The university’s early childhood program was
certified as qualifying for matching funds for Child Development
Block Grants. The cost of courses that contribute toward professional
development of educators and early childhood caregivers can be used
as matching funds for subsidized childcare. The grant funds are
used for direct costs of childcare.
To qualify, UT Tyler students must meet economic
qualifications specified by the Texas Workforce Commission and provide
verification of college participation. They also must reside in
the 14-county delivery area of the East Texas Workforce Board, which
includes Anderson, Henderson, Rains, Cherokee, Harrison, Panola,
Upshur, Smith, Van Zandt, Camp, Gregg, Marion, Rusk and Wood counties.
For more information, students should call TWC childcare
services at 1-800-676-8283 and specify that they attend UT Tyler.
The university does not handle applications, assist with the process
or track participation in the program.
