Oliver
North Lecture, Student Seminar Jan. 22
The
UT Tyler Distinguished Lecture Series will present Col. Oliver North,
combat-decorated Marine, best-selling author and former U.S. counter-terrorism
coordinator, at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, at the Cowan Center.
North also will
be featured at a student seminar for university students from 4:30
to 5:15 p.m. in the Braithwaite Recital Hall. The seminar will include
a question-and-answer session.
Advance lecture
tickets for faculty and staff, limited to four per person with valid
ID, will be free of charge but without guarantee of seating preference.
Advance student tickets, limited to one per person with valid ID,
will be free of charge but without guarantee of seating preference.
Students, faculty
and staff may purchase an unlimited number of additional tickets
as needed until tickets are sold out.
North is the
founder of a small business, an inventor with three U.S. patents,
a syndicated columnist, host of a nationally syndicated daily radio
show and host of “War Stories’’ on the Fox News
Channel.
Born in San
Antonio, North graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy and served
22 years as a U.S. Marine. His awards for service in combat include
the Silver Star, the Bronze Star for valor and two Purple Hearts
for wounds in action. North has written three bestsellers, “Under
Fire,’’ “One More Mission’’ and his
latest “Mission Compromised.’’
