war. The servicemen and women are, on an average, about 19
½ years old and are volunteers. Largely “the

Residents Give $113,900 to UT Tyler LUC

and Gladys Whitaker of Longview have given $113,900
to UT Tyler Longview University Center for scholarships,
announced President Rodney H. Mabry.
The
Hogan/Whitaker Endowed Scholarship will benefit students
from Gregg County and from Central Heights High School
in Nacogdoches County who are attending the UT Tyler

Players Team-Up With McDonald's
Baseball
players from The University of Texas at Tyler spent Monday,
Jan. 19, at three Tyler-area McDonald’s locations signing
autographs, passing out team schedules and giving out free
baseball cards.
The players appeared from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McDonald’s
restaurants at Broadway Crossing (in front of Lowe’s),
ESE Loop 323 and Troup Highway (in front of Albertson’s)
and the Wal-Mart location on Troup Highway...

Sigma Alpha Chapter Receives Grant
UT
Tyler’s Rho Iota chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha has received
a grant from the national political science honor society
to bring speakers to campus this spring.
Chapter
president Justin Rhinehart and other members of the UT Tyler
organization participated in submitting the proposal for the

UT Tyler Academic Enrichment Center will present seminars
beginning Jan. 28 to assist students in academic and personal
growth.

events are open to UT Tyler students, faculty and staff. Drinks

the Basics
A
presentation is made by the Tyler Kung Fu and Fitness Demo
Group in the UC Jan. 12. Headed by Brandon Jones, the group
demonstrated some of the skills taught in the Beginning Martial
Arts Class at the Herrington Patriot Center. A schedule of
fitness classes offered this semester at the HPC can be viewed
