Student Apartments Groundbreaking

SGA Invites University to Take Part in ‘Day of Service

The UT Tyler Student Government Association will hold a “day of service’’ carnival to benefit the Champions for Children organization from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, April 17, in the Louise Herrington Patriot Center.

The United to Serve Children’s Carnival for ages 3-5 is planned as a community service outreach to benefit Tyler-area youth through Champions for Children. More>>>

Cheerleader Tryouts, Clinics to be Held in April

Cheerleaders during basketball gameThe UT Tyler athletics department will hold cheerleader tryouts at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 24, at the Herrington Patriot Center.

Tryouts are open to current UT Tyler students and incoming undergraduates, including high school seniors, junior college transfers and college transfers. More>>

WinnersStudents from 12 schools visited UT Tyler recently to participate in the 11th Annual ACM High School Programming Contest.

Participants in March 5 event at Muntz Library the traveled to Tyler from Dallas, Allen, Euless, Longview, Southlake, Fort Worth, Waller Austin, Arlington, Lindale and Whitehouse. More>>>

Piano Recital to Feature Duo Performances

The music division of The University of Texas at Tyler School of Visual and Performing Arts will present a piano recital featuring UT Tyler students in duo performances on Monday, March 29.

The recital will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the Braithwaite Recital Hall of the UT Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center. More>>>

Adventures in Trigonometry

math students outsideStudents in a trigonometry class taught by Dr. Jennifer McLoud enjoy springtime weather and the parklike setting on campus as they participate in an “outdoor adventure’’ group quiz. The class recently went outside fitted with protractors, rulers, a tape measure and yard stick to determine valid trigonometric ways to find the height of the Riter Carillon Tower, height of a flag pole and the distance across the lake. Apartments – Construction has begun to create 200 beds in four buildings. Projected time of completion: fall 2004.

Baseball/Softballs Fields – The first phase is expected to go out to bid in April.

Dormitory – An architect has been selected to design the building. Projected time of completion: fall 2005.

Engineering, Science and Technology Building – Project went out to bid. Details>>>

Performance Soccer Field – Construction has begun. Completion expected in May.

Longview University Center monument signs – Anticipated completion date is March 30.

Other Projects: Request for qualifications went out for the design of two more parking lots and a small renovation project in PHE. Details>>>
