Student Organizes ‘Driving You to Vote’ Project

Voters in front of van

UT Tyler history/political science major David Curry (second from right) and Dr. Larry Carter (right), assistant professor of public administration, are pictured with members of the university community during the recent Driving You to Vote event organized by Curry. Over a two-day period, students, faculty and staff were offered transportation to the polls to participate in early voting. As requested by Curry and political science major Dustin Tallent, the UT Tyler Student Government Association provided $200 from its administrative budget to rent a van and pay for gas. “Basically, we are trying to remove as many obstacles to voting for members of the UT Tyler community as we possibly can,’’ Curry said.
