Hispanic Business Center to Offer ‘Spanish for Business’ Seminar

The UT Tyler Hispanic Business Center will offer a “Spanish for Business” class during the spring semester, Dr. Isaura Flores, visiting assistant professor of management and director of the Hispanic and Latin American Research Program, announced.

“This class targets non-Spanish speaking people interested in learning the basic Spanish skills necessary to successfully conduct negotiations with Hispanic-owned or Latin American businesses,” said Dr. Flores.

“Spanish for Business” will begin on Jan. 17, 2005 at the Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce and will consist of 12 sessions. Participants will meet 6 – 7:30 p.m. on Mondays.

Cost will be $275.

Topics will include vocabulary, grammar, conversation, cultural snapshots and business etiquette, as well as other writing exercises.

Dr. Flores also instructs the Hispanic Business Center’s business and computer seminars.

“The small business development seminar and the basic computer seminars are offered in Spanish and target the Hispanic community interested in developing stronger businesses,” she added.

To register for the “Spanish for Business” seminar or for more information, contact Dr. Flores at 903.372.9199 or iflores@mail.uttyl.edu.
