Celebrating the Freedom to Read
Dr. David Beams, associated professor of electrical engineering, reads excerpts from Steinbeck’s “Of Mice and Men’’ on Sept. 29, the second day of Muntz Library’s annual Banned Books Read Out. UT Tyler joined libraries nationwide in observing “Banned Books Week: Celebrating the Freedom to Read.’’ Observed since 1982, the event reminds Americans not to take this precious democratic freedom for granted. Readers, including students, faculty and staff, were scheduled every 15 minutes during Muntz Library’s two-day event.
