Library to Present Banned Books Read Out
The UT Tyler
Muntz Library will hold its annual Banned Books Read Out 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tuesday – Wednesday,
Sept. 28-29.
“Banned Books Week: Celebrating the Freedom to Read’’ is
observed during the last week of September each year. Observed
since 1982, the annual event reminds Americans not to take this
precious democratic freedom for granted.
Readers will
be scheduled every 15 minutes at the library. Students, faculty
and staff are invited to participate. Excerpts from any book
that has been banned anywhere for any reason is fair game. A
link to a "webliography" of
informative sites will be available within the next week on the
library home page.
To sign up to read, contact Joanne Buendtner by e-mail ( jbuendtn@mail.uttyl.edu ),
telephone (566-7174) or in person (LIB 210B).
