Comedian Juston McKinney to Perform
Thursday Student
Activities will present the comedy show “Just Joking’’ featuring
Juston McKinney at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, in UT Tyler’s
University Center.
Admission will be free to UT Tyler students, faculty and staff.
All others will be admitted for $5. Refreshments will be provided.
Hailing from Kittery, Maine, McKinney joined the York County
Sheriff's Department as a rural patrol deputy. He also served as
the D.A.R.E. officer for seven of the county's elementary schools,
telling kids to stay off drugs and get on with their dreams. Listening
to his own advice, McKinney decided to pursue his own dream, leaving
the police force to do stand-up comedy in Boston. From there he
successfully took on the New York comedy scene with his funny,
original, high energy performances.
Now in Los
Angeles, some of McKinney's many accomplishments include appearances
on A&E's "100 Center Street" and Comedy
Central's "Premium Blend" as well as a recent appearance
on the “Tonight Show" with Jay Leno.
He spends an average of five nights a week doing stand-up comedy
and performs frequently in Los Angeles area night clubs including
the Comedy Club, the Improv, the Magic Club, the Ice House and
college campuses. He has performed internationally at the Comedy
Cafe in Amsterdam.
McKinney recently
performed both his one man show "My Brother's
Father" and stand-up at the U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen,
Colo. While in Aspen, McKinney was presented with the Listerine "Clean
Mouth" Award, which honors his talent and clean style of comedy.
