| UT Tyler Nursing Association Brings Home Awards and Honors

The Student Nursing Association at UT Tyler received three awards and two honors at the Texas Student Nursing Association annual convention in Houston February 26.
UT Tyler received the “Image of Nursing” award. This award is given to the school that exemplifies what the image of nursing should be and sets an example for other schools to follow.
Debra Stauffer, nursing faculty at the UT Tyler Palestine Campus, was given the “Touching the Future of Nursing” award. This signifies Stauffer’s guidance and devotion to the success of the nursing students.
The UT Tyler students raised $750, the third highest amount, through private donations, contributions from local businesses and UT Tyler nursing students, faculty and staff. The money benefits the TNSA seeing eye dog charity.
Two UT Tyler students were elected to serve as officers on the state board of the Texas Nursing Student’s Association. Paul Bear was elected as the northern regional director and Dan Graham to the nominations and elections committee.
The Texas Student’s Nursing Association is comprised of over 80 schools with registered chapters. UT Tyler competed with many of these schools for these awards and honors.
