UT Tyler Professor Inducted Into American Academy of Nursing

Dr. Lynn WieckDr. Lynn Wieck, Jacqueline M. Braithwaite Professor for the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at UT Tyler, was inducted as a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing on Nov. 12.

FAAN membership is awarded by invitation only for the recognition of outstanding accomplishments within the nursing profession and to health care.

For the last five years, Dr. Wieck has conducted research on solutions to the nursing shortage including national studies on retaining young nurses under 35, and mature, experienced nurses over age 40 who are considering retirement.

“I hope the connections through the Academy can help with our doctoral program efforts as well as with our research and global outreach,” said Dr. Wieck.

UT Tyler has been authorized to plan for a Ph.D. program in nursing, which will be one of only seven nursing doctoral programs in the state.

Dr. Wieck previously served as chief executive officer for Management Solutions for Healthcare and has taught at Texas Woman’s University and the University of the Incarnate Word.
