Women Mathematicians
Five female mathematics majors from UT Tyler attended the 7 th annual Nebraska Conference for undergraduate women in mathematics in Lincoln, Neb. earlier this month.
The conference informs female math majors of various undergraduate research and graduate schools. It included a series of lectures, workshops, and professionals in mathematics, which updated over 150 undergraduate women from all over the country about their opportunities as a woman in the math world.
“It was interesting to see the different presentations given by the undergraduates on the various types of mathematics and to hear stories and life experiences from established women mathematicians,” said Theresa Gray, one of the attendees.
This is the fourth year UT Tyler has driven the nearly 13-hour drive to participate in the conference. Participants included Theresa Gray, Fatima Jaafari, Katie Lee, Rachel Nolan, and Sarai Ramos.
