| Patriot Softball Plays First-Ever Game

The Patriot Softball team played their first-ever season game against Northwood University Sunday.
President Rodney Mabry threw the first pitch. Dr. Dale Lunsford, vice president of external relations and student affairs, threw a second pitch with a curve on it, and Howard Patterson, athletic director and dean of student affairs, threw a mean third pitch to start off the season.
“The girls were pretty nervous in the first game. In game two, they settled down and got past those first game jitters. That game really represents their ability as a team,” said Head Coach Mike Reed.
The Patriot girls lost their first game 2-1 and won the second 8-0 with 7 runs scored in the first inning.
The girls play at home this Saturday, February 26 at 1 p.m. against Texas Wesleyan.
