Ward Acquires Orientation
Ward is currently a student development specialist in charge of student learning communities (SLC). SLC’s are small groups of students with a common major that take three classes and a freshman year experience seminar together to increase retention at the university. She will continue to organize SLC’s in addition to orientation. Orientation will have a few changes. An extra day will be added to orientation this year, making four, one-day sessions. Monster.com will present an hour presentation about choosing a major, and an optional day of pre-advising will be offered the day before each orientation. Tentative orientation dates are June 17, June 24, July 15 and July 29.

Ashley Ward is now the interim coordinator of UT Tyler’s orientation. Freshman orientation was previously coordinated by Shaune Martinez, who resigned earlier this month.
