Nursing Students to Study Abroad in Guatemala

nursing students
Nine undergraduate nursing students, four nurse practitioner graduate students, and three nursing faculty are traveling to Guatemala at the end of this month to participate in a medical mission in San Raymundo.

The students will work in a clinic and assist in an operating room for five days where they are expecting to see 1,000 patients and care for an additional 40 surgery patients.

The trip is arranged through Refuge International, which was founded by Deborah Bell, a former nurse practitioner student at UT Tyler and a former faculty member. Refuge International was designed to focus on healthcare in Guatemala.
