| UT Tyler Students and Professor Paint Mural in Library
 Three undergraduate art majors and an art professor are painting a mural on a main wall of the UT Tyler library.
“I wanted to paint something that was public and incorporated undergraduates,” said Alexis Serio, assistant professor of art.
Serio received a $4,000 grant from the President’s Faculty/Student Summer Research Grant program to paint the mural. She is working with Michal Durham, Athens senior; Jodi Rubbelke, Flower Mound senior and Tracy Wyckoff, Spanish Fork, Utah sophomore. More>>>

Students from China Visit Tyler and UT Tyler
Six students and two professors traveled from Qujing Normal University, which is southwest of China, to visit the state of Texas.
Through classes at UT Tyler, interaction with American host families and traveling to large cities in Texas, they experienced American life and improved their English speaking skills. Their American experience culminated with a ceremony on June 30 during which they received certificates to commemorate the visit. More >>>

Two History Majors Awarded Scholarships
Kristin Stephens of Whitehouse and Stephanie Comer of Lindale are recipients of history scholarships at UT Tyler, Dr. Edward Tabri, assistant professor of history, announced.
Stephens is the recipient of the 2005 Edwin Morgan Smyrl and Frank H. Smyrl Endowed History Scholarship Award for $1,000. Comer is the recipient of the 2005 Phil Stacy Jackson History Scholarship Award for $500. More>>>
