It’s All Greek to Me

In the upcoming academic year, UT Tyler could have three fraternities and three sororities on campus, with one fraternity and one sorority being historically African-American.

The process is long and interesting. The first step of implementing Greek life was to inform the national governing bodies of UT Tyler’s interest in starting a Greek system. Interested fraternities and sororities provided information, and a committee composed of faculty, staff and students selected four fraternities and five sororities to present to the UT Tyler community. UT Tyler Hires Civil Engineering Department Chair

James NelsonDr. James Nelson has joined The University of Texas at Tyler as professor and chair of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, effective May 26, Dr. Troy Henson, dean of engineering and computer sciences, announced.

Nelson will lead the development of the bachelor and master of science in civil engineering, as well as the civil and environmental engineering facilities and recruiting of faculty and students at UT Tyler. More >>>

Graduate Journalism Class Added to UT Tyler Fall Schedule

Topics in Mass Communication: Communication Campaigns has been added to the fall 2005 schedule at UT Tyler.

The graduate-level course, JOUR 5329.001, will be offered 6-8:40 p.m. every Thursday in the Hudnall-Pirtle-Roosth Building, room 247. More>>>

UT Tyler Student’s Hard Work Pays Off

IntercomOnline to be Published Monthly This Summer

This is the final issue of the IntercomOnline for the spring semester. The IntercomOnline will be published monthly this summer, on the first Monday of each month. The online newsletter will return to its weekly publication schedule at the beginning of the fall semester.

Cowan Center Opens 2005-2006 Circle Membership Drive

This season Cowan Center Circle members will enjoy a garden gala with actress Lily Tomlin, who will open the ninth season, which includes the Performing Arts Series, Distinguished Lecture Series, Broadway Series and Special Events. More>>>


Sutton Named Director of Student Development

Mindy SuttonMindy Sutton was appointed as UT Tyler’s director of student development effective May 9, Dr. Howard Patterson, dean of student affairs and athletic director, announced.

“Although there were several excellent finalists, Mindy’s experience at the University of Houston, as well as the thoroughness and quality of her work since arriving at UT Tyler, figured heavily into this decision,” said Dr. Patterson. More>>>
