Flores to Receive “Women Who Inspire” Award

The Women in Tyler committee will honor Dr. Isaura Flores, visiting associate professor of marketing at UT Tyler, during the “Women who Inspire” luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, March 24 at the Rose Garden Center.

This is the seventh annual luncheon in which eight women will be honored for their contributions to the community. Flores was chosen as one of the eight out of several dozen nominations. More>>>

TXDOT Thanks Student Organizations for Highway Clean-Up

Five student organizations at UT Tyler were awarded plaques by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for their participation in the “Adopt-a Highway” program.

A total of 10 miles is being cleaned and maintained by The Accounting Society, American Chemical Society, Muslim Student Association, Pre-Medical/Pre-Dental Association and Tri Beta – Kappa XI. Each organization agreed to clean a two-mile stretch of road four times a year for two years. More >>>

Eighteen students at UT Tyler have been named to Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.

Who’s Who was established to honor outstanding campus leaders annually for their scholastic and community achievements. More>>>

What Do You Want to Do?

motorhomeThe office of Career Services is offering a national program called Roadtrip Nation to students who are unsure of what type of job to pursue.

Teams of three will spend the month of July driving cross-country in a green RV interviewing leaders about their paths in life. More>>>

An engineering and computer science career fair was held in the Cowan Center lobby to expose students to different companies. Over 12 companies, including Trane, TxDOT and Cox Communications came to meet and greet with UT Tyler’s students. More>>>

Willie EdmondWillie Edmond, a sophomore journalism major, fills out a survey regarding litter habits in the UC. Students were asked to fill out these surveys, handed a “Don’t Mess with Texas” bumper sticker and bag and asked to make a conscious effort not to litter during spring break. More>>>

‘From Plato to Potter’ Conference March 26

The UT Tyler College of Arts and Sciences will sponsor “From Plato to Potter,’’ a conference on classical, medieval and renaissance studies Saturday, March 26, Dr. Donna Dickerson, dean, announced.

Open to the public, the conference will be 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at the UT Tyler Cowan Center. There will be no registration fee. More>>>

“Just Move” Rhythm Unit Dance Try-Outs

Try-outs for a dance team were held March 10 in the Patriot Center gym. Alana Gray, pictured is a freshman biology major from Hallsville and the initiator of this organization. Five out of the 8 contestants made the team, including one male. Another try-out will be held after spring break. Flyers will be posted for more information. More>>>
