UT Tyler President to Honor Patriots of the Year
President and Mrs. Rodney H. Mabry will host a reception honoring the UT Tyler 2005 Patriots of the Year, Neal and Peggy Garland and Drs. Lee Roy and Lucy Mathis on Wednesday, March 9 at Willow Brook Country Club.
Neal and Peggy Garland were the driving force behind the creation of The University of Texas at Tyler’s Longview University Center, according to President Mabry. More >>>

“Miss Saigon” to Perform at UT Tyler Cowan Center
The award-winning classic love story of “Miss Saigon” will perform at the UT Tyler Cowan Center at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 11.
Ticket prices are $56, $46 and $36, and can be purchased at the UT Tyler Cowan Center box office. Box office hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. More>>>

Former UT Tyler Faculty Member to Speak at Sonya Kovalevsky Day
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Evelyn Granville, a former UT Tyler faculty member who was one of the first African-American women to receive a Ph.D. in mathematics.
This day celebrates the life and influential work of Sonya Kovalevsky, the first woman to receive a Ph.D. in mathematics. The event will take place Thursday, March 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the UT Tyler Library. More>>>

Student Groups to be Honored for Adopt-a-Highway Involvement
UT Tyler will participate in the March 2005 Don’t Mess with Texas Campus Cleanup campaign by recognizing UT Tyler student organizations that participate in the state Adopt-a-Highway program.
The recognition ceremony will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, in the UT Tyler Administration Building, Room 301, Dr. Lou Ann Berman, executive director of community relations, announced. More>>>

Hawks are Back
With the arrival of spring, the hawks have once again set up residency behind the Administration building and the University Center.
Last week a hawk swooped down and scratched a student as she walked behind the University Center. This is similar to the incidents that were reported at about the same time last year when hawks were nesting near the inner campus sidewalk. More>>>

UT Tyler and UTHCT Seeking Women to Participate in Study
The Center for Excellence in Women’s Health Research and Outreach of the UT Tyler College of Nursing and Health Sciences and UTHCT are seeking participants for a research study called C.H.O.I.I.C.E that involves bioidentical hormones in women.
The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of bioidentical hormone therapy cream on improving the overall quality of life and reducing the risks of cardiovascular disease in women between 30 and 65 years of age. More>>>

Meadows Gallery Features International Exhibition
An exhibition of 32 works by 25 national and international artists juried by Michelle Grabner is on exhibit through April 1 at the Meadows Gallery, located in UT Tyler Cowan Center, gallery director Matthew Rich announced.

UT Tyler Hosts TCEA High School Programming Contest

The department of computer science hosted the annual Texas Computer Education Association Area 7 High School Programming Contest February 19 where eight teams from schools in the region competed for trophies, medals and an invitation to the state contest held in April. More>>>

UT Tyler Tennis in Action
The UT Tyler men’s tennis team beat Mississippi College 6-1 and Austin College 7-0 at home Saturday. The women lost to Mississippi 1-8, but redeemed themselves against Austin College 6-3. The next home game is Tuesday, March 8 at 4:30 p.m. against Central College from Iowa. Larger Photo>>>

“Vincent in Brixton” Receives Regional Awards
“Vincent in Brixton” received five more awards at the Regional Festival for the region VI Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival at The University of Arkansas February 26. "Vincent in Brixton" was selected to perform by the sixteen member KCACTF Regional Committee as one of the most outstanding productions produced in the five state region, which includes Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
Dr. James Hatfield, professor and director of the theatre was presented excellence in set design, excellence in direction and excellence in set dressing. More>>>
